Governor’s Office Announces Updates to DUI Penal Code
Los Santos, San Andreas – The Governor’s Office has officially announced revisions to the state’s Driving Under the Influence (DUI) penal code. These changes, effective immediately, aim to provide clearer legal definitions and stricter enforcement mechanisms to address impaired driving across the state.
The updated penal code reflects a streamlined approach, breaking down DUI infractions into distinct subsections to enable law enforcement to issue specific charges for violations. Additionally, penalties for underage DUI offenses have been aligned with the standard DUI penalties to reinforce the seriousness of these infractions.
Key Changes to the DUI Penal Code Include:
2000.01 Driving Under the Influence (DUI)
- Introduction of detailed subsections categorizing offenses, including:
- Driving under the influence of alcohol.
- Driving with a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) of 0.08% or higher.
- Specific BAC thresholds for commercial drivers and passengers for hire.
- Driving under the influence of drugs or a combination of drugs and alcohol.
- Penalties for repeat offenses remain unchanged but are rigorously enforced.
2000.02 Underage Driving Under the Influence (DUI)
- Penalties now match those of standard DUI violations, escalating in severity with repeated offenses.
- Increased emphasis on awareness-altering substances, irrespective of legality or prescription.
