The San Andreas Highway Patrol (SAHP) has provided additional information regarding the recent collision involving a Highway Patrol vehicle and a civilian truck. The incident, which occurred on December 27, 2024, at approximately 10:15 PM at the intersection of Route 68 and the Route 13 interchange, is currently under investigation.
According to the official report, the crash involved a Highway Patrol supervisor responding to an emergency call and a Ford Raptor traveling eastbound on Route 68. Preliminary statements suggest the Highway Patrol vehicle entered the intersection from the northbound off-ramp and collided with the truck, which was allegedly traveling at high speed.
The collision caused the civilian vehicle to go airborne, with at least two occupants reportedly ejected upon impact. Emergency medical services transported the injured parties to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The driver of the civilian vehicle stated that the truck was proceeding eastbound when the patrol car unexpectedly entered the roadway, resulting in the collision. Meanwhile, the Highway Patrol officer involved in the crash acknowledged misjudging the truck’s speed and stated that he believed there was sufficient time to clear the intersection.
